Youth activities are a way for the students on our community to keep their minds and bodies busy and active when they're not in school. Extracurricular activities stimulate and support core academic skills. A variety of programs are available through MPS and community partners across the city.
Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board offers classes at neighborhood rec centers and environmental programs in the great outdoors as well as sports leagues and concerts in the parks.
Hennepin County Library offers free learning opportunities for your family year-round including book clubs, homework help, art workshops and other activities
Community Education offers programs for children and teens that include enrichment, leadership development, community service, recreation, and field trips. Staff also infuses reading into activities.
AchieveMpls Step-Up program provides job training and real, paid work experience to build your resume.
The Student Activities Department MPS monitors and offers support for activities in the schools.
Hennepin County Youth Workforce Centers offers employment resources for youth summer jobs.
Certified Community Partners Minneapolis Public Schools partner with community groups to provide services to students and to allow groups to use district property through license or lease. Community Partners Online (CPO) certifies these organizations and individuals as community partners.
