A variety of resources are available from MPS and our community partners to support families when they need help. Learn how to get more information to support your family throughout the school year.

• Bully Prevention programs are offered through the MPS Student Support Services department
• MPS offers Chemical Dependency Support via phone, electronic or in-person consultation with staff, students and families regarding alcohol and drug related questions or concerns
• Special Education Services offers advocacy services to parents who have students with disabilities.
• School psychologists support the educational and social/emotional health of students from birth to 21 years of age in the Minneapolis Public Schools.
• English Learner Services foster students’ academic learning and to provide opportunities for English language development.
• School Social Workers work with parents, students and school staff to identify student needs that interfere with learning in order to support the students directly, make appropriate referrals to regular and special education services, and help the student and family connect with community resources.
• The Ombudsperson is a person who listens to and investigates questions, concerns and complaints about Minneapolis Public Schools and its programs, offices and staff.
• Family Classes
  • Connecting Parents to Educational Opportunitues (CPEO) is a seven-week curriculum based program designed for parents; bringing schools, parents and community together as equal partners in the education of students.
  • Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) Bbuilds and supports the skills and confidence of parents and strengthens families by providint safe educational environments that promote the healthy growth and development of families with children pre-birth to kindergarten.
