Minneapolis Superintendent search process advances with site visits and public comment period

MINNEAPOLIS – The Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Superintendent search process continues, as established at the March 15 Board of Education meeting, with site visits conducted by Board Directors and an upcoming public comment period.

Site visits were conducted for the two finalists, Dr. Brenda Cassellius and Ed Graff. Directors Josh Reimnitz and Siad Ali headed to St. Paul to learn more about candidate Cassellius. Board Chair Jenny Arneson and Director Rebecca Gagnon traveled to Anchorage to learn more about candidate Graff. The purpose of these visits was to conduct due diligence and confirm information received throughout the search process. Directors will be providing both verbal and written reports on the site visits.

In addition, students, families, MPS staff and Minneapolis residents are invited to share their perspective on the Superintendent search process and finalists during public comment today, May 23, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at the Davis Service Center (1250 W. Broadway Ave).

The Board will meet Tuesday, May 24, to select a preferred Superintendent candidate. On May 27, the Board will vote to approve a final contract.
