“We are not concerned with innovation in education merely for the sake of novelty. We are concerned with innovation as a necessary ingredient in creating and sustaining a culture of performance in public education, one that is based on the kind of continuous improvement that we believe is necessary to bring about faster and better problem solving that can, in turn, increase student achievement results.” New Venture Schools
The Mission Statement:
We believe that the opportunity gap is an adaptive problem, these types of problems do not have simple solutions. In order to address the context, mindset and beliefs at the root cause of adaptive problems, those closest to the students and students themselves must be involved in designing the solutions.
The MPS Innovation Incubator works to support classroom innovation using Design Thinking as a lever for change. We support teachers extending their capacity to create authentic, relevant and engaging classroom practices, content and structures.
Toward that end, the Office of the Superiendent in partnership with the STEM Team, Innovation Team and the Office of New Schools have provided a series of Design Thinking, Innovation Saturday Sessions.
Additionally, we provided 3 hours' SPARK' Sessions focused on Student Centered Design Thinking.
