Honoring our Native Families
MINNEAPOLIS – Minneapolis Public Schools is proud of our Native students, staff and families, and celebrates the rich, diverse Indigenous cultures within our schools and our community. To celebrate Native American Family Involvement Day on Nov. 17, MPS will be dishing up manoomin (wild rice) salad in all K-8 schools and hosting a variety of activities throughout the district.
At Kenwood Elementary, students in kindergarten through fifth grade created beautiful artwork, which will be on display throughout the day today. In the evening, Kenwood will hold a family engagement barn dance and book fair.
At Sanford Middle School, many events — including a lacrosse demonstration, a film festival and a student dance performance in traditional regalia — will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
