Help MPS kids

This winter, one small, easy thing you can do for kids in our community is help pay off an overdue lunch account.
There are about 4,000 overdue accounts in our district, with a total balance of $160,000. However, gifts as small as $25 can pay off an account for a student and mean a great deal to a family having a tough time making ends meet.
If you'd like to make a tax-deductible donation through AchieveMpls, the district's nonprofit partner, follow these simple steps:
  1. Go to https://www.achievempls.org/support-mps-fund
  2. Select a gift of any amount
  3. Under Designation, where it says, "Specify MPS school, fund or program," select "Other"
  4. In the box below, type "Nutrition Services - School Lunch"
  5. Complete the form and click "Donate"!
MPS has progressed from relying primarily on prepackaged meals with processed ingredients to emphasizing scratch cooking, fresh ingredients and more locally sourced products. In fact, the nutrition parameters and ingredient guides we use surpass USDA regulations. We’ve eliminated the use of artificial preservatives, food dyes, food additives, artificial flavors, and trans fats in all our foods.
We're producing our own dressings, soups, sauces, and bulk salad--which saves money--and we use Farm to School Local produce and quality, fresh proteins. Eliminating processed items is both cost-effective and better for students. Our award-winning staff has worked with national and regional health and research groups to validate the benefits of whole foods and their positive impact on our students’ wellbeing.
All of this is because at MPS we know we have to feed both minds and bodies for our students to succeed.
