100 Strong Who Care volunteers celebrate African American History Month with Minneapolis Public Schools students

MINNEAPOLIS – Volunteers from various Minneapolis companies will share their career stories and highlight the accomplishments of African Americans with Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) students during upcoming 100 Strong Who Care events in recognition of African American History Month.

100 Strong Who Care is a program of the MPS Office of Equity and Diversity and supports the district’s aim to narrow the achievement gap among students of color. The primary goals of the program are to increase the impact of the community on students' success, to inspire students and to increase graduation rates for all Minneapolis students.

Minneapolis Public Schools joins with diverse community partners to bring business professionals to approximately 15 Minneapolis schools throughout the school year. Volunteers encourage MPS students to pursue higher education and career opportunities and to introduce students to careers in marketing, science, law, human resources, computer technology and many more. The program recruits business professionals year round for participation in the program. For more information, or to become a volunteer, please contact Brittney Forrest-Wilson at brittney.forrest-wilson@mpls.k12.mn.us or 612-668-0018.
