Blasting off at Bancroft!
MINNEAPOLIS – Bancroft Elementary students already reach for the stars, and on Saturday, Oct. 1, they’ll meet two people who have walked among them: NASA astronauts Scott and Mark Kelly.
The identical twin brothers will reflect on their recent experiences participating in the groundbreaking Twins Study. The study investigated how space affects the human body, examining physiological, behavioral, microbiological and molecular differences between the brothers. During the study, Scott spent nearly a year in space and Mark served on the ground.
All systems are go for this event, which is part of the partnership between Bancroft and the Blake School. Research conducted by Bancroft fifth graders and Blake’s Girls Tech Tank will be presented to the Kelly brothers, who will offer insights and suggestions to students. Students will ask the brothers questions and engage in a reflective dialogue about teamwork, leadership, research, adversity and innovation.
