In the 2015-16 school year, all middle schools will have more learning time for students: school will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:45 p.m., an increase of 45 minutes. This change is being made in order to offer students even more opportunities to choose academic experiences that interest them and match their goals for high school and beyond. Increased time will mean different things for each school. Contact your school office for specific details.
This change affects 6-8 middle schools only. K-8 and 5-8 schools will have the same schedule next year as they do today.
Changing the length of a school day can affect family routines. We hope that by providing families with advance notice for changes taking place next fall, each family will have time to research options that work for them.
More time in school means more time for learning, and we are confident that students will be on task and having fun during the extra time that they spend with us.
